Divine Generations

LMCC Artist-in-Residence at The Arts Center at Governors Island

February- May 2022

Created and performed by Leah Ogawa and John Tsung

Jindai Zakura ( 神代桜 ,) translated as Divine Generations, is a legendary cherry tree in Japan, and at roughly two thousand years old, one of the oldest.  This work is a continuation in my practice of “Body Ayatsuri”- my investigation on movement through organic bodies via inorganic mechanisms. Divine Generations is a continuation of this exploration on how the quality of the motion encircles the whole body.
